Good Friday

Wondering why today is considered "Good" Friday.  I know it is said that Jesus was put to death in the body but made alive in the spirit.  That His death brings us to God.  So yes, that is good for us.  But is today really about us?  I think not.  Today is about Jesus dying on the cross.  About His selflessness, about His unimaginable capacity for love; His unimaginable capacity for forgiveness and grace; His unimaginable ultimate sacrifice; His unimaginable complete faith in God.

In Church this afternoon, we, the sinners, walked down the aisle, one-by-one to kneel at the foot of the cross and to kiss the cross.  I watched the man with the cane kiss the cross.  I watched the babies kiss the cross.  I watched the old and the young kiss the cross; the black, the white and the Chinese kiss the cross; Men dressed in suits and men dressed in jeans; I watched my own mother kiss the cross.  I myself, knelt at the foot of the cross, as a rush of humility washed over me.  I kissed the crossed and stood up, blessing myself with the sign of the cross, as the tears rolled down my cheeks, quite unexpectedly and from a place deep inside my soul.  I wept , uncontrollably, as I found my back to my pew.

Good Friday?  Not yet, no, not today.  Good Saturday, maybe...but today is all about our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.  What He did for His People, the Ultimate Sacrifice.  Ever so Humbly I say, Thank you, Jesus.  Thank you.
